Instability in the Middle East is a recent phenomenon. When thinking in terms of leadership and alliances, the region was relatively predictable until 2011. One key geopolitical driver is the Saudi-Iran relationship. Hani Sabra of the Institute for Global Affairs (IGA) discusses how this might evolve and whether the US can influence politics in the Middle East.
