About the Program

Foreign policy shapes everyday life — but its assumptions tend to go unexamined. The Institute for Global Affairs was founded to open that conversation up. We bring rigorous thinking on geopolitics to broader audiences — and bring them into the foreign policy conversation.

Based in New York City — at the intersection of foreign policy, media, and finance — IGA has a distinct vantage point on geopolitics. Our internship program gives aspiring foreign policy researchers, analysts, and journalists the opportunity to engage with new ideas and gain experience across research, communications, and development. Interns contribute to original policy and education work, supporting publications, producing digital media content, and engaging with IGA’s broader network of scholars, fellows, and opinion shapers.

What You’ll Do

Interns contribute across a range of projects depending on their backgrounds and interests.

Research & Analysis

Contribute to public opinion research, policy briefs, and white papers on US foreign policy and international affairs.

Digital & Social Media

Draft content, produce short-form video, and design graphics for IGA’s social media channels and digital platforms.

Podcast & Video

Support production of IGA’s None Of The Above podcast and video projects, from scripting and research to editorial planning.

Education & Outreach

Help bring IGA’s research to broader audiences on social media and through newsletters and op-eds.
