The Experience of Sovereignty
Populism is trending across the developed world, but varies by country/region. For example, the European case might show a decline in sovereignty in the chance of a populist victory. The US is much different; it has been the most sovereign nation in the world for a long time now whereas European integration is structurally ingrained in the political and economic landscapes.
